LinkedIn Is a great social media network for the business professional. Unfortunately, is also a great place for unscrupulous people to gain vital information on the company, its structure, and its employees.
When using LinkedIn, you can take some steps to help minimise the information that can be harvested from your account, to protect your privacy.
- Think about the following points before posting –
Who am I sharing this information with?
How much and what type of information am I sharing?
How many people can see the information I am sharing?
Can I trust all the people that see this information?
-
Do not include any contact details, including personal and work email addresses or phone numbers.
- Only accept requests from people you know, be vigilant for requests from fake accounts, and look out for incorrect employment history, photos or posts before accepting.
- Review the privacy settings, review what friends, and followers can see.
